Transform the Future - closing the loop
Dalsouple’s Transform the Future design competition encourages designers and students to go out into the community and spread the word that in design, ‘sustainable’doesn’t mean ‘boring’. By seeking sustainable solutions to design problems, tomorrow’s designers will make a huge contribution to the eco performance of the built environment.
Last year’s winning project was the Luis Braille School for visually impaired children in Tucuman, a remote part of Argentina. Students Leonardo Bercovich and Noelia Canizares co-operated on a fabulous, colourful design scheme that was both playful and practical.
The intention of the competition is to deliver a real benefit to a community project. Part of the prize was a Dalsouple rubber floor, thick, chunky ‘Dalsport’ loose lay interlocking tiles in blues and yellows, which was delivered and installed earlier this year and is already being put to good use by the young schoolchildren.
Noelia and Leonardo paid a visit to the school to see the floor in situ and to take photos.
"It was a really nice thing watching the kids playing, they seem to enjoy it a lot and the teachers are also happy with the flooring," commented Noelia. "Many thanks from everybody at Tucuman!"
