Inspiration for Learning - Dalsouple at Anglia Ruskin University

Dalsouple's natural rubber flooring in grey and vibrant yellow has been specified by UK architects and designers the Curious Group for phase 1 of a major library refurb at Anglia Ruskin University.

"Our brief was to create a user-friendly social space for students to sit, chat, study, surf the net and also introduce them to the library, ", says Tony Coffield of Curious, who led the project.  "We specified Dalsouple rubber flooring in this area to give a clean visual experience, yet with a forgiving feel underfoot.  The highly reflective quality of the product, combined with the range of colours and textures enabled us to introduce panels of colour to help define the main route as well as the seating and reception areas.  We used yellow as a signature colour, owing to its vibrant and fresh appeal.  It acts as a powerful visual device to draw the eye into the library beyond."

Dalsouple flooring has been specified extensively for educational installations and other public buildings all over the world.  The extraordinary colour choice enables specifiers to avoid that mundane, institutional feel common to so many public spaces.  There are 80 colours in the standard palette, all available in more than 30 different surface finishes including smooth.  Anti-slip, burn resistant, low dust and hygienic, the product will perform brilliantly even in the heaviest traffic areas, maintaining its appearance for years of service life.

With many public sector organisations around the world now facing tough targets on sustainability for all new builds and refurbishments, Dalsouple's 100% natural rubber content also meets the most demanding environmental criteria.  Natural rubber is a wholly renewable raw material, and mature rubber trees are highly effective at absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere.  Minimal energy is required for manufacture and at the end of the product's life, rubber is easy to recycle.
